A 15-year-old boy was charged today with murder after the body of a 15-year-old girl was found in South Wales.

Another boy the same age who was arrested in connection with the incident was subsequently released without charge, police said.

Rebecca Aylward's body was discovered in a wooded area just outside Aberkenfig on Sunday morning, approximately 32km west of Cardiff.

She was last seen on Saturday after being dropped off by relatives to visit a friend. Miss Aylward's mother reported her missing later that evening when she failed to return home.

In a statement, her family said they had been "shattered" by the teenager's death.
