Jack Viney: Melbourne star snags $1.9m disposal for Elwood investment
Melbourne AFL star Jack Viney has watched as his Elwood investment property neared a $2m delivery — just hours before he ran out onto the MCG.
AFL star Jack Viney chased down a $1.9m sale for his Elwood investment property at auction on Saturday just hours before his team took on Richmond at the MCG.
The former Melbourne co-captain and wife Charlotte watched as four bidders went head-to-head over the renovated 46 Rothesay Ave home, which was called on the market at $1.8m.
Chisholm & Gamon managing director Torsten Kasper said the pair were stoked with the sale.

“They were very excited with the result and really pleased to meet the purchasers, who are downsizing” Mr Kasper said on Saturday.
“(Jack) was there for the auction … Hopefully it’s a good omen (for the game).”
Speaking to the Herald Sun earlier this month the midfielder said they had decided to list the property after welcoming daughter Mila last year.
“The property we’re living in at the moment is starting to get a little small — our little one is nine months old now — and the market is really hot so we thought it was a good opportunity to sell some assets,” Viney said at the time.
The couple also recently listed their own home, at 39 Hill Street in Hawthorn, with a $1.95m-$2.05m price guide.
Mr Kasper said the flexible floorplan, size of the rooms and location on a “very popular street” were the Elwood property’s biggest drawcards.
He added: “I think it’s a good time for people putting their properties on the market because there is a consistency in results, it’s a very good time for sellers.”
In nearby Gardenvale, another three-bedroom home also notched up a $1.91m sale in front of a crowd of almost 80 people.
The 11 Gardenia Road property was declared on the market at $1.8m before soaring more than $150,000 above its $1.7m-$1.750m quoted range.
Meanwhile Australian women’s cricket captain Meg Lanning was left empty-handed after her Hawthorn abode slipped through and passed in at auction.
She is now after a $1.850m offer for the renovated Victorian.
The 29-year-old — who led the Aussies in the recent T20 and ODI series against New Zealand — originally had $1.8m-$1.95m price hopes for the property.
