Results day has been marred for several students after they received official statements that contained ‘random’ subjects, in yet another embarrassing letdown for the VCAA.

Further errors marred results day for a small number of students who received statements that contained “random” subjects they didn’t take or had marks listed twice.
The mistakes follow widespread leaks in 65 exam papers by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA).
Isabella, 18, from Malvern was surprised to find her official statement of results from VCAA contained VET animal studies, which she was listed as taking in 2021.
Back then she would have been in year nine and unable to take a VCE subject.
The VET subject, which she has never taken, was listed instead of one she did take, maths methods. Isabella’s results list her as having completed seven subjects across three years, which is not correct.
“I was shocked to see a random subject there,” she told the Herald Sun.
“I don’t know if my ATAR is going to include that or my methods mark. How does a random subject end up there? It’s just a mess. How am I supposed to trust all of these marks when they don’t know what subjects I have taken?”
Several other year 12 students took to a VCE Facebook group on Thursday afternoon to complain that there were “errors” with their results.
“Is something wrong with my ATAR? … it lists one of my subjects twice, and doesn’t show maths methods (which i did) when giving the scaled score and ATAR,” one student said.
“Look it’s not like my methods were any good but why are they still making errors… did they not learn from exams,” she added.
“Same! Me but for foundation maths. I’m actually confused,” another said.
Another student said: “It’s completely missing foundation maths, then has allied health twice and says I did it in 2022.”
VCAA has been contacted for comment.
