Wyndham desperate for new schools

An independent analysis of newly released 2022 NAPLAN results has revealed the schools which performed the best in the Year 5 and Year 9 tests.

Strathmore North Primary School, in Strathmore, had better primary results than any other school in Western Melbourne, scoring an average of 550.0 across the five test subjects.

The school’s principal Nicole Di Marco said the results confirm staff are “doing a great job” by the students.

“We‘re very proud of the team effort from everyone involved,” she said.

“We have very passionate and collaborative teachers who work together in teams across the school to get the best results for every child.

“Well, I think I think it gives us strong indication about how well we’re doing. Then you‘re using those, especially the individual results, to confirm the other datasets you have about students and cohorts.”

Westbourne Grammar School in Truganina was the second best for the region with an average score of 550.0, while Penleigh & Essendon Grammar School in Keilor East was the third best with an average score of 544.8.

The top performing secondary school was Suzanne Cory High School, in Werribee, with the average result was 675.4.

Penleigh & Essendon Grammar School in Keilor East was the second best for the region with an average score of 628.6, while Alice Miller School in Macedon was the third best with an average score of 626.0.

To determine how each school performed in 2022, the scores for all five test subjects for the student cohort (Yr 5 or Yr 9) were combined and the average found.

Special schools, schools with fewer than 20 students enrolled, and schools that did not report any results for NAPLAN subjects were excluded from the analysis.

The figures were independently compiled from the Federal Government‘s MySchool website.
