Year 9 soccer players from Marcellin College have been filmed using foul misogynist references on the sidelines of matches and during a game-day strategy session.
The boys, aged 14 and 15 years old, are seen talking about using “pussy formation”, being “womanisers” and using a “penis” strategy on the pitch while preparing for a game against an all-girl team.
The school is investigating and disciplinary action including expulsion could be taken against the teenagers.
In one of the videos obtained by the Herald Sun, the school boys celebrating a big win are heard to say about the opposition team: “F--- you, F--- you, that’s what you get, c---s”.
The video was filmed while the boys were playing at the Veneto Club, a soccer and social club across from their Bulleen school.
They were not playing matches at the school or in the school competition but are wearing their school sport uniform.
In another video the boys are seen planning game-day strategy, which includes comments such as “penetrate through the gaps”, “it’s a pussy formation, it’s a penis!” and “We are womanisers!”
They also cheer loudly when the player points out that: “We are playing the girls today so make sure you use your hands”.
They have removed some of the offensive videos from their Instagram page due to complaints, prompting a post calling their opponents “cry babies”.
One parent who contacted the Herald Sun said they were “disturbed to see over the past few weeks a toxic culture of male aggression unfolding at social soccer”.
“These boys in their school uniforms have not only been intimidating male teams but have been misogynistic when playing an all -girls team,” the parent said
The parent said the boys had subjected the girls to “thug-like tactics”.
Marcellin College principal Marco Di Cesare said the behaviour was not acceptable.
“This was not a College sanctioned event and was an external competition. However, the students involved are wearing our uniform without our knowledge or permission,” he said.
“As a College we are very clear with our expectations and this behaviour is outside of our community norms and everything we stand for. Our students take part in a range of educative programs that have the dignity of each human person at the centre as well as a focus on respect for women and each individual,” he said.
“The matter is currently being investigated. We will not tolerate any behaviour that degrades women or is misogynistic. If these young people are all identified as our students, we will be considering their future enrolment at the College,” Mr Di Cesare said.
The Veneto Club declined to comment.
