Two staff members at the trouble Parkville youth justice centre have been assaulted by youths, with one officer “bashed around his head”. It comes days after an assault at the Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre.

Two staff members were assaulted on the job at the troubled Parkville youth justice centre last night.
One male officer was bashed by two youths about 7.50pm and was treated by paramedics.
Prison sources said the male was “bashed around his head” in an unprovoked attack at the Park Road youth justice centre.
Ambulance Victoria said the man was treated for upper body injuries.
Another staff member caught up in the assault was also treated for injuries.
The attack happened in the high security Eastern Hill unit.
The Department of Justice said the department takes the safety and security of all staff seriously and the matter has been referred to police.
Recently there has been a string of violence at the state’s youth justice facilities.
The Herald Sun revealed on Monday that a teacher at Malmsbury youth justice centre was bashed, allegedly after refusing to let his attackers listen to music.
