Gangland widow Roberta Williams flipped a table, broke a chair and asked police if they were trying to kill her during a dramatic police interview over an alleged extortion attempt involving her wannabe reality TV producer.

The former wife of underworld killer Carl Williams was arrested in August last year after producer Ryan Naumenko claimed, 36, he was beaten within “an inch of his life” by Ms Williams and four men at a “launch party” for the TV show he was helping Ms Williams create about her life as a “mob wife”.

Ms Williams and four men, aged in their 20s and 30s, pleaded not guilty to charges including unlawful imprisonment, making threats to kill, causing injury and extortion after being committed to stand trial following a three-day committal hearing in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.

Photos released by the court show the “aggressive” stand off between Ms Williams and officers after she was taken to the Melbourne West police station shortly before 8am on August 7, 2019.

Detective Senior Constable Cameron Burns stated he could hear a “commotion” and “yelling and carrying on” coming from the interview room.

“I remember hearing a female voice yelling things like … ‘you all killed my husband’ and ‘Is that what you want to do to me, kill me too?’,” Detective Burns said in a statement.

The officer said when he entered the room he saw broken chairs and wet patches on the carpet.

Ms Williams was later bailed in a late night court hearing has been on bail since.

Mr Naumenko claimed he was bound, bashed and pistol whipped after being allegedly ambushed at the Rokeby St studio by Ms Williams and four men on July 9 last year.

Mr Naumenko, who the court heard had a 31 page criminal history involving predominantly deception offences, alleged the gangland widow screamed: “Kill the c—-, he has no money” and threatened to tell police he had raped her daughter Dhakota if he did not transfer money into a bank account during the three hour ordeal.

Mr Naumenko told a court Ms Williams choked him with an electrical extension cord for 20 seconds but he was eventually able to overpower her.

Mr Naumenko did not immediately contact police after the attack and instead emailed a “trusted colleague” – crime writer John Silvester – for advice and a contact within Purana task force, the court heard.

The court heard he told his father that Mr Silvester had facilitated an introduction between him and Ms Williams prior to the filming of the reality TV show.

Ms Silvester on Friday denied this and said he had never met Mr Naumenko before receiving his email.

Ms Williams and co-accused James Harrison, Daniel DeSilva, Jake Sexton and Hassam Al Zwainy will return to court on December 11.
