Police believe they have made a major breakthrough in the 2018 drive-by shooting at the home of Finks boss Brent “BJ” Reker.

Echo Taskforce detectives today charged a 36-year-old man on summons with discharge a firearm at premises, reckless conduct endangering life, criminal damage by fire, prohibited person possess firearm, and theft of motor vehicle over the shooting.

He will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on July 21.

The accused gunman allegedly has links to the bikie underworld.

Reker, 35, was inside his Warrain St, Frankston home with his partner and newborn son when it was sprayed with bullets and his car torched on May 31, 2018.

The 36-year-old has also been charged with the car firebombing.

Dramatic CCTV of the shooting shows the gunman take aim at the home and the blaze that ripped through the bikie’s car.

The charges will be a huge relief to his family who spent years troubled by the drive-by attack.

The Herald Sun this month revealed the shooting left Reker fearing for his family and that he armed himself with a gun for protection.

Reker died at Ravenhall Correctional Centre last December while awaiting trial over a vicious assault.

He and a mob of Finks bikies were charged after a man was beaten with a tyre iron at a Hampton Park home in 2018.

The assault was said to be an act of revenge over a nude photo scandal involving a friend Tara Eddlestone.

Reker’s mother Lynette Kersten said her son had plans to leave the underworld and begin a legitimate career before he died in prison.

His death is not being treated as suspicious and is being examined by a Coroner.
