The mother of a toddler allegedly murdered by her boyfriend has fought back tears as she learnt her son’s accused killer refused to get on his bus transfer from prison to face court.
Stacie Saggers had bravely attended Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today to come face-to-face with Brendan Pallant, who has been charged with two-year-old Jaidyn Gomes’ murder.
But the court heard Mr Pallant, 32, had not arrived at court because he refused to get on the bus.
It is the second time he has dodged his court appearance, choosing not to come up from the cells for a brief administrative hearing when he was first charged in September.
Mr Pallant is accused of killing Jaidyn at the family’s Potts Rd home in Langwarrin on September 2.
The court heard seven witnesses would be called at a committal hearing on May 13 to determine if there is sufficient evidence for Mr Pallant to stand trial.
Outside court, Ms Saggers, 34, revealed her daily grief of waking up without her son.
“It’s impossible to accept that my little boy is gone,” she said.
“I wake up every day thinking my little boy is still here. I wake up feeling happy, ready to see my little boy’s beautiful smile and bright blue eyes.
“I’d give anything to bring my baby boy back. All I can do from here on in is live with memories of Jaidyn.”
She said he would be “held in our hearts forever”.

In a message to her little boy, she said: “Rest in paradise baby Jaidyn. Mummy loves you and misses you so much.”
Ms Saggers said it had been “very difficult” to come to court thinking she would face her son’s accused killer.
But she would not be drawn on how she felt about Mr Pallant’s non-attendance.
“I’m not in a position to make any further comment to the public,” she said. “All I can say is that the court has been adjourned to the 13th of May.”
