Mongols bikie boss Toby Mitchell has been arrested over an alleged violent street confrontation with a socialite Bitcoin trader.
Mitchell was detained by detectives from the anti-bikie Echo taskforce in relation to an incident in Domain Rd, South Yarra, earlier this month.
Anthony Hess, who has a broad social media presence and has connections in the entertainment world, is alleged to have been struck in the altercation.
The incident happened on October 4.
Mitchell, the Mongols’ president, is being interviewed this afternoon about what happened.
It is unclear whether the incident, which erupted outside the Gilson cafe, was captured on CCTV.
It is understood Hess was allegedly struck twice and was taken to hospital but did not file a police report.
He required medical treatment including a neck brace to treat his injuries.
“It has been blown out of proportion,” Mr Hess told the Herald Sun.
A source said there were multiple witnesses to the incident.
Mongol bikie Mark Balsillie and his girlfriend were both with Mitchell at the time of the incident.
Mr Hess is close friends with former Married at First Sight contestant Stacey Hampton.
The pair have been photographed shopping together for luxury goods on several occasions.
Mr Hess made headlines in June 2019 when high profile PR queen Roxy Jacenko took out a court order against him after he allegedly abused her during a speaking function.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said: “Detectives from the Echo Taskforce have arrested a 45-year-old man at his Southbank address this morning as part of an investigation into a serious assault in South Yarra earlier this month.”
