15 youths charged over wild Hoppers Crossing brawl

Fifteen youths, including a boy as young as 13, have been charged over a wild fracas that saw brawlers travel from across seven suburbs to fight. It comes after police raided suburbs across Melbourne’s west.

A boy, 13, is among 15 people charged over a huge gang fight in Melbourne’s west which left a teenager stabbed.

They are alleged to be among 40 youths from across seven suburbs who met to brawl at a carpark on Derrimut Rd, Hoppers Crossing, on May 23.

A 17-year-old was taken to hospital with suspected stab wounds after the fracas.

Wayward Taskforce detectives working on Operation Stingray have executed warrants across the western suburbs after identifying suspects.

Raids were carried out today in Hoppers Crossing, Werribee, Point Cook, Deer Park, Burnside Heights, Tarneit, St Albans and Melton this morning.

The 15 arrested have all been charged with affray, violent disorder and breaching the Chief Health Officer directions.

A 13-year-old boy has been charged, along with two 14-year-olds, four 15-year-olds, two 16-year-olds, two 17-year-olds, an 18-year-old from Hoppers Crossing, a 21-year-old from Werribee, a 21-year-old woman from Melton West and a 22-year-old from Hoppers Crossing.

A 15-year-old boy and three 16-year-olds were remanded to appear at a children’s court at a later date.

Three have been released pending summons and nine people bailed to appear at a court at a later date.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
