The victim of a targeted organised crime murder was shot multiple times in the face in a retaliation attack over angst he was “talking out of school’’.
The fatal shooting of Korey Kesici remains under investigation as police attempt to track down the triggermen who gunned down the 22-year-old outside his family’s Mickleham property, in Melbourne’s north, on May 5.
CCTV footage reveals 12 shots were fired at Mr Kesici who had approached a BMW to talk to two men who had driven into Bangalore Way outside the family home.
Moments later he lay dead on the road.
It is believed Mr Kesici’s murder is linked to an Middle Eastern organised crime wave sweeping through Melbourne’s north, which has resulted in nine shootings between two warring factions since January.
The Herald Sun has been told the attack was spurred by ill-will over a perception Mr Kesici was betraying confidences within the underworld.
Mr Kesici had been a Mongols prospect and also had ties with Notorious Crime Family - a predominantly northern suburbs gang which also has members inside Victoria’s jails.
Both NCF and the Mongols are heavily involved in the illicit drug trade.
The Echo taskforce have been able to curtail alleged NCF ordered hits in the days before Mr Kesici’s execution.
Although there have been no direct links made between NCF and the murder, it is one line of inquiry for the homicide squad.
Within the hour of Mr Kesici’s shooting a cryptic message was posted by a third party on jailed NCF gang leader George Marrogi’s Instagram account.
It read “Take delight in the lord and he will give you the desires of your heart’’.
It was accompanied by the calling card of the NCF gang “11:11’’.
Marrogi, who is serving more than 30 years in jail over the shooting murder of Kadir Ors in 2016, founded NCF from Barwon Prison.
