The man allegedly hired to kill Marrogi’s rivals

The man allegedly hired by crime boss George Marrogi to kill his rivals has boasted he’d do “anything” for the jailed crime boss.

Police allege Joshua Fuller was hired as a hit man by George Marrogi.

The suspected would-be hit man for jailed Notorious Crime Family boss George Marrogi has been revealed.

It follows police claims Marrogi ordered two hits in response to a $300,000 gangland contract being taken out against his younger brother.

Joshua Fuller, a 31-year-old NCF gang member living in eastern Melbourne, is the suspected triggerman allegedly paid by Marrogi to kill two rivals in a plot formed at Barwon Prison.

Fuller has not been charged over the alleged plot but police wanted him jailed.

However, he was granted bail this week and is still living in the community.

Police allege the Ringwood North muscleman was to be paid $150,000 to shoot two men by Sunday, April 24, after the $300,000 kill contract was taken out against Marrogi’s brother, Jesse.

Jesse Marrogi has since fled the country with girlfriend Sabrine Maghnie, daughter of murdered underworld figure Nabil Maghnie.

Months earlier Fuller vowed he would do “anything” for the Marrogi family.

“If you or your family ever need anything all you have to do is ask,” he wrote in an Instagram post dedicated to George Marrogi in prison.

Fuller allegedly received kill orders via Marrogi’s girlfriend, Antonietta Mannella, who communicated with Marrogi in coded phone calls that were initially thought to be with his lawyer and led to their arrest a day before the allegedly planned murders.

The explosive details emerged on Tuesday at Ringwood Magistrates’ Court when Fuller was bailed on charges of failing to comply with a direction to assist police (not providing passcodes).

He was arrested along with a 27-year-old Mickleham man for suspected conspiracy to kill but neither has been charged with that crime.

The court heard Mannella, on behalf of her boyfriend, gave Fuller a $50,000 down payment for the contract kills.

On April 5, Fuller was arrested at his Ringwood North home with $50,000 cash, knuckledusters and prescription drugs seized.

Police allege Marrogi said Fuller should “not worry” about losing the cash and that Fuller continued to plan the dual murders after being charged and bailed.

Detective Sergeant Joshua Curwood, of the Echo taskforce, told the court “reconnaissance” had been done on the intended murder targets and “items” had been obtained to carry out the crimes.

At one point, Marrogi allegedly said of the murder targets: “One can be shot and the other can come out and they can be shot”.

Fuller – who is tattooed with the NCF gang symbol – remains under investigation on the conspiracy allegations.

Opposing his bail, Sgt Curwood told the court: “Even after police intervention (Fuller) was still willing to participate in the offending and even on bail (Fuller) was believed to be involved in the planning and willingness to carry out the offending.”

However Christopher Terry, for Fuller, argued police had no evidence to charge his client with conspiracy, stating it was an “unusual case” given the allegations aired in court had little to do with the charges Fuller was currently facing.

“The court would be entering fairly dangerous territory if people were held on remand because of an as-yet uncharged – possibly never charged – matter that found an unacceptable risk argument,” Mr Terry said.

Fuller was bailed with conditions including that he reside at Ringwood North with a curfew of 9pm to 5am, not to call or associate with Marrogi and Mannella directly or indirectly and use only one phone, to which he must provide access to police.

His release comes days after the shooting murder of 22-year-old Korey Kesici outside his home in Mickleham. His killer is yet to be caught, with homicide squad detectives investigating potential links between Marrogi and the ambush of Kesici.

A fortnight ago, Marrogi was sentenced to more than 30 years’ jail for the 2016 execution of drug rival Kadir Ors in Campbellfield.

Marrogi has been in prison since the shooting, however, police allege it has not stopped him running his criminal organisation.

Marrogi and Mannella are facing high-level drug charges related to the importation of 400kg of methamphetamine seized in Malaysia in November.

The pair remain in custody.
