Two men have been charged and more than half a million dollars cash seized as part of an investigation into a Middle Eastern organised crime syndicate.

The newly formed VIPER taskforce searched two properties in Endeavour Hills and Dandenong South in early morning raids on Tuesday.

Police seized what is believed to be $650,000 in cash, as well as ammunition, from the Dandenong South address.

He was bailed to face Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on January 28 next year.

A 49-year-old Dandenong South man is expected to be charged on summons for failing to store ammunition, possessing ammunition without a licence and possess proceeds of crime.

The arrests were made with assistance from the Australian Federal Police’s National Anti-Gangs Squad.
