Frankston attempted armed robbery
It comes as police also probe an unrelated, attempted armed robbery in Frankston that occurred on January 21, and which was caught on camera.
Police say a 40-year-old man was sitting out the front of his workplace at a shopping centre on Cranbourne Rd about 5am on that date when a Mercedes pulled up beside him and two young men got out of the back seat of the car.
One man, armed with a claw hammer, approached the worker and demanded he hand over cash.
The men then start to punch and kick the victim, who managed to raise the alarm by ringing a nearby bell.
The offenders – described as being aged between 17 to 20-years-old and dressed all in black – then ran back to the Mercedes, which is believed to have contained three other people, and fled the area.
One of the assailants was wearing a face mask and the other a beanie and a Kathmandu puffer jacket.
