Tributes flow for Turgay Ozgen killed in horror motorbike crash in Craigieburn

A beloved member of the Turkish community has been remembered as a “top bloke” after he was killed in a motorbike crash in Craigieburn.

A beloved member of the Turkish community has been remembered as a “top bloke” after he was killed in a horror motorbike crash Melbourne’s north.

Turgay Ozgen, 30, died when his motorbike collided into the back of a car travelling south on the Hume Highway in Craigieburn about 8.05am on Thursday.

A badly damaged motorbike was seen on the grass of the median strip at the intersection of Rushwood Drive.

Sue Elhealou said she drove past the crash and saw Turgay lying on the ground.

“All I was thinking about was his family,” she said.

“Heartbreaking.”

Turgay was unable to be revived with driver of the car escaping without injury.

Jack Toma told the Herald Sun that his mate from high school was a great friend.

“He was a top bloke that would go out of his way for his mates and family,” he said.

“It’s such a sad ending to a young life.”

Kirky Cardona said she was deeply going to miss her friend.

“Turgay was the most funny and caring person that I had ever met,” she said.

“He was the best person to be around.”

It’s understood Turgay was a member of the Turkish community in Melbourne.

Tributes and prayers have continued to flow on social media with friends describing the man as caring and compassionate.

“Gone too soon Turgay,” Sibel Karaman wrote on Facebook.

“Will always remember that beautiful, smiley face.”

“My dear friend Turgay has returned to Allah, may Allah forgive his shortcomings and bless him with Jannah and may his questioning be easy for him,” Yasin Solak said.

Police said the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.
