Toby Mitchell allegedly nabbed driving wrong way down lane

Toby Mitchell has fronted court again after being booked for an alleged driving offence — but the notorious bikie strongman says he can prove his innocence.

Bikie boss Toby Mitchell is no stranger to finding himself on the wrong side of the law – but it’s an alleged incident of driving on the wrong side of a one-way street that sparked his latest court appearance.

The Mongols chief was allegedly nabbed driving the wrong way down an inner-city laneway in November last year.
Charge sheets released by the court allege Mitchell drove against a directional arrow at Fawkner St in Southbank.

But after receiving an infringement notice, Mitchell opted to fight his matter in court arguing he had no choice as part of the street was blocked off due to road works.

And the Mongols president claimed he’s got the footage to prove his innocence.

“Mr Mitchell exited from a carpark building and the area he could turn was undergoing construction,” lawyer Theo Magazis told the court.

Mr Magazis said he had secured photos and mobile phone recordings of the scene and was in the process of collating the evidence.

The fine for faling to obey a one-way sign is $165.

Mitchell did not appear in court for the brief mention due to Melbourne’s lockdown.

Shortly before his matter was due to be called Mitchell, an avid social media user, posted videos on Instagram of his motorbike and pet dog, as well as sharing footage of a man punching a police officer.

The matter will return to court on September 17.
