Two teenagers who allegedly botched a firebombing at a Mill Park restaurant have been slapped with more charges.
A 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl were both charged with one count of attempted arson for allegedly attempting to set the Al Nafoura restaurant alight about 3.45am on February 27.
It’s alleged a group of teens rolled up to the restaurant in a Isuzu D Max ute allegedly stolen from Wonga Park a few weeks earlier and were interrupted by a witness, who allegedly saw them holding jerry cans suspected of containing fuel.
At the time the 16-year-old girl was charged with two counts of criminal damage by fire, conduct endangering life, conduct endangering serious injury and theft of motor vehicle.
The 14-year-old boy was charged with aggravated burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.
It’s believed those charges relate to the alleged theft of the D Max ute from Wonga Park, that was allegedly also used at an alleged arson attack at a Ballarat tobacconist on February 20.
They will appear at a children’s court later this year.
Police have charged six teenagers across their investigation into the incidents they believe to be linked.
Four days later the Al Nafoura restaurant was targeted a second time, where a security guard was threatened with a gun before the building was set on fire.
No arrests or charges have been laid over the second attack.
