Two teenagers charged over the horror abduction of a schoolboy in Glen Huntly stand accused of a two-day crime spree across Melbourne in the lead-up to the attack on the student.

The accused boys, aged 14 and 15, face dozens of charges over the spree that included attacks with machetes, a car theft and robberies of multiple victims, stealing phones, headphones and an electric scooter in Malvern East, Caulfield and Cranbourne.

It comes as one of their alleged victims, Glen Eira Secondary College student Benjamin, 14, remains in hospital where he was recuperating from “life-altering” injuries.

The pupil remained in a serious condition after he was pulled into a car “travelling at speed” after school on Monday, September 4.

One of his alleged attackers, a boy aged 15, faced a Children’s Court on Monday charged with 25 offences and was remanded in custody after he did not apply for bail.

He faced multiple driving offences, including deliberately driving a car at a person putting them in danger of serious injury, and driving without a licence.

His co-accused, a boy aged 14 who police said belonged to a youth gang, faces 30 charges and will apply for bail in a fortnight.

Documents before the court show that the two teens stand accused of a two-day spree, as police hunt another offender who was yet to be charged.

On September 3 – the day before Benjamin was abducted – the pair allegedly stole the $55k VW Tiguan from Malvern East, which was used to nab the boy off the street as he walked home from school.

The car theft occurred on the same day they allegedly stole two sets of house keys, also from Malvern East, two remote controls and prescription glasses from a BMW – loot valued at $1500.

The next day, September 4 – the day the schoolboy was attacked – they allegedly tried to steal a Mercedes GLS 450, believed to valued upwards of $170k, in Prahran.

Later in Caulfield North, they were accused of an attempted robbery and unlawful assault, before moving onto Caulfield East where they allegedly robbed a victim with a machete, taking their Nike tech fleece jacket and Samsung Galaxy phone worth $1150.

In the same suburb, they allegedly used the machete to rob another person of their iPhone 7 and Urbanista headphones, worth $1080, another attempted armed robbery and unlawful assault before pulling Benjamin into the stolen VW “travelling at speed”, stealing his phone and other belongings.

It’s believed Benjamin was thrown from the moving car in a crime that put him “in danger of death and serious injury”, according to charge sheets.

The pair then moved to Cranbourne East, where they allegedly used the machete to rob another victim of their Unagi E500 electric scooter, worth $859.

Also in Cranbourne, the older boy, 15, was accused on September 4 of deliberately driving a car at a person, putting them in danger of serious injury, then driving along the Berwick-Cranbourne Rd without a licence.

A week earlier in St Kilda, he was accused of stealing a BMW X6 worth $60k.

Meanwhile, the 14-year-old was charged with committing multiple offences on bail and possessing methamphetamine.

Both charged boys have been remanded and will face court at a later date.

Victoria Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
