A second teen has been charged over the abduction of a 14-year-old Glen Eira College student.
The 15-year-old was charged with multiple counts of armed robbery, robbery, conduct endangering life, intentionally causing serious injury, theft of a motor vehicle and theft.
He has been remanded to appear at a Children’s Court at a later date.
It comes as another teen allegedly involved in the abduction that left the year 9 student fighting for life fronted court on Friday where he planned to seek bail again, despite having been on bail during the alleged attack.
The Glen Eira College student was walking with a group of friends outside the school on Neerim Rd in Glen Huntly about 3.30pm on Monday when a group, allegedly armed with machetes and a box cutter, pulled him into the car and demanded he hand over his phone and other belongings.
It is alleged he was run over as he was hurled from the car, crushing a bone in his ear among other injuries.
The teen remained in a coma in a stable condition in the Royal Children’s Hospital on Friday.
Fronting a children’s court on Friday, it was confirmed the alleged “ringleader” of a teenage gang had been bailed for separate offences mere weeks before the schoolboy was allegedly abducted on Monday afternoon.
The court heard he would apply for bail yet again, but he was remanded in custody for three weeks until his application could be listed.
He will return to a children’s court on September 28.
Both mothers of the accused boy and his alleged victim could be seen on the court’s video link listening to the proceedings.
The teen was arrested on Thursday and charged with armed robbery, robbery, conduct endangering life, intentionally causing serious injury, theft of a motor vehicle and committing an indictable offence while on bail, among other offences.
Others involved in the incident were still being sought by police.
On Thursday, Victoria Police Inspector Scott Dwyer said investigators had identified all alleged offenders but would not reveal how many youths were involved.
The group were all believed to be members of a youth gang identified by police, but Inspector Dwyer would not confirm whether they primarily operated in Melbourne’s eastern and southeastern suburbs.
The investigation remains ongoing.
