Sven Lindemann to spend 25 years in prison for murdering ex girlfriend Monique Lezsak in front of her children

A jealous bodybuilder who murdered his girlfriend in front of her children as her 10-year-old daughter tried to disarm him will spend the next 25 years in jail.

Jealous bodybuilder killer Sven Lindemann has been sentenced to at least 25 years jail for the horror stabbing murder of his ex girlfriend Monique Lezsak as her young daughter fought to save her mum’s life.

The murderer, 52, sat stony faced as he was handed a maximum 31 years behind bars for the attack on his partner in the early morning of May 30, 2023.

There were no “crocodile tears” in the Supreme Court on Wednesday as he learned his fate, as the killer gave up his fake tears from his last court appearance, which failed to convince the judge he had any remorse.

The morning of the murder, Justice Elizabeth Hollingworth said Lindemann heard Ms Lezsak on the phone to the man she’d broken up with him for.

It was the “catalyst” that led him to “explode in extreme violence and rage”, using six knives to stab the 39-year-old to death, undeterred when two broke, and her daughter Lily fought to save her mum’s life.

Lily, 10, fought bravely to save her mother, twice disarming the bodybuilder despite suffering stab wounds herself, screaming for him to “leave my mother alone!”

After murdering his partner in a three-minute frenzied attack, Justice Hollingworth said he “didn’t show the slightest concern for the woman you claimed to love, or the children you were supposed to protect”.

Instead, he left Ms Lezsak dying on the floor, her daughter distraught and injured and covered in her mother’s blood, and transferred $71k between bank accounts in a “particularly calculated” move before stabbing himself.

The hypocritical killer – who had cheated on his own wife and left his kids interstate to be with Ms Lezsak – later claimed he “blacked out” because he was being cheated on.

He repeatedly blamed the woman he killed, stating “she made (him) black out and lose control”.

Justice Hollingworth said Lindemann had no remorse, noting he felt sorry for himself and his own children, but was missing any real empathy for Ms Lezsak, her children and her family.

Outside court, Ms Lezsak’s loved ones paid tribute to “the funniest person on this earth” and were pleased the “book was thrown at” Lindemann.

Lifelong friend Jacqueline Schwarcz spoke of Ms Lezsak’s daughter, Lily, and said “as adults we can’t fathom the amount of bravery that it took for that small child to step in, risk her own life for the life of her mother”.

She said family and friends were “horrified and devastated by the actions that Sven has chosen to do to our beloved Monique” and that “no amount of punishment will be enough or replace our loss”.

“We as Australians will not accept domestic violence, it will not go unseen and it will not go unpunished,” Ms Schwarcz said.

“If you support such criminals and their behaviour it makes you an enemy of women.

“Let it be said that domestic violence is not isolated and that it is capable of happening to anybody.

“Women should be safe in their own homes, especially from the ones they trust the most.

“The fact that there are so many women that are subjected to this horrific act of family violence every day is completely deplorable.

“As Australians, we don’t accept this, and we stand against it.”

Had he not pleaded guilty, Lindemann would have been sentenced to 37 years jail, with a non parole period of 31 years.
