A bodybuilder accused of murdering his girlfriend Monique Lezsak has run into financial troubles.
Sven Lindemann, 51, appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday where his lawyer told the court his private defence fund had dried up.
“There are issues with the private funding so I’ll refer to Legal Aid for legal representation moving forward,” his lawyer told the court.
Lindemann is accused of stabbing to death the mother-of-two in her parents’ Endeavour Hills home in May.
He is also charged with recklessly causing injury.
Ms Lezsak’s 10-year-old twin daughter was seriously injured when she attempted to save her mum.
The girl was rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
“Her daughter is a hero, my hero, our hero, she tried to stop it,” Jacqueline Schwarcz, one of Ms Lezsak’s friends, said in May.
The brief hearing was observed by Ms Lezsak’s former partner and father of her children, ex-Finks bikie Jye Carter.
Carter described Ms Lezsak, 37, as a “loving mother” and “beautiful person” in the wake of her death.
“She was just a really good mum. I can’t believe this has happened, I really can’t,” he said.
Lindemann was adjourned to reappear in court on November 17.
