An alleged St Kilda drug dealer will spend Christmas behind bars after Prahran and Fawkner detectives seized a veritable supermarket of illicit drugs.
The 47-year-old was arrested on Wednesday following the discovery of more than $105,000 worth of drugs, including methamphetamine, ecstasy pills, magic mushrooms, MDMA, and butenediol.
Prahran Divisional Response Unit Detective senior sergeant Tim Moreland said the arrest prevented a significant amount of drugs from reaching the street, and was triggered by tip-offs from the community.
“The ripple effect drugs can have throughout the community is devastating, contributing to assaults, theft to support addiction and innocent people dying on our roads due to drug affected drivers,” Sen Sgt Moreland said.
“Police gather a range of intelligence during the course of any investigation, with community assistance often an integral piece of the puzzle.”
The driver appeared briefly in court following his arrest, where he was refused bail and remanded in custody until January 25.
