A man has been charged with killing his wife and seriously injuring his daughter in a blaze in Melbourne’s west.

A husband accused of setting fire to his family home, killing his wife and seriously injuring his daughter, has been charged with murder.
Kylie Griffiths, 36, perished when her Sutherland St, Albanvale home was set alight allegedly by her husband Roland Griffiths, 38, on March 14.
The couple’s children, including a nine-month-old baby, were inside at the time.
Their 17-year-old daughter suffered serious injuries but survived the inferno.
Mr Griffiths has spent more than two months under police guard in hospital.
On Wednesday detectives from the Arson and Explosives Squad charged him with offences including murder and attempted murder.
He will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday evening.
It was alleged Mr Griffiths used a flammable liquid to ignite the family home.
Ms Griffiths was seen running from the house with flames on her back and burns to her face.
Mr Griffiths appeared at his filing hearing at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday evening via videolink from the hospital in which he is being held under police guard.
He appeared in a white long-sleeved shirt with what appeared to be compression gloves on both hands.
Mr Griffiths informed the Court that he was taking Epilim, a medication for epilepsy.
He appeared calm as he was remanded to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on September 7 for committal mention.
