Drugs, white powder, cash and ammunition were seized as part of a large-scale police operation in Melbourne’s southeastern suburbs on Wednesday.

Three men were arrested by the Special Operations Group after search warrants were executed at homes in Chadstone, Clayton and Elsternwick.

Those taken into police custody were a 36-year-old Clayton South man, a 32-year-old Chadstone man and a 34-year-old Portuguese national.

“Police seized a quantity of drugs, including cannabis cultivation equipment and about 40 mature cannabis plants, a large quantity of cash, a small amount of ammunition and a quantity of an unknown white powder,” a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.

“There is no immediate risk to community safety.”

On Wednesday morning officers from the Australian Federal Police and Victoria Police swarmed on the three homes.

About 40 police cars were seen at the intersection of Toorak and Warrigal roads just before 12pm, according to an eyewitness.

“There is something big going down,” caller Tim told 3AW.

The investigation remains ongoing.
