Police are investigating a string of violent attacks on the office of former opposition leader Matthew Guy.
The Doncaster electorate office has now been targeted several times in recent months, with unknown offenders appearing to smash windows on each occasion.
Mr Guy said it appeared that a high-powered slingshot had been used to shatter the windows, which had caused considerable damage to the office.
The most recent attack occurred in late January, but he had also been targeted in November and July last year.
His office was also set upon ahead of the 2022 state election when he was running against Daniel Andrews to become Premier of Victoria.
It’s understood two hooded people were also recently seen trying to light a fire in a bid near the office.
Mr Guy’s office is located on the same block as the office of upper house Greens MP Aiv Puglielli.
Labor upper house MP Sonja Terpstra’s electorate office is also located nearby.
The Herald Sun understands neither Mr Puglielli or Ms Terpstra’s office had been targeted in the same way.
But promotional material of federal Liberal MP Keith Wolahan, whose office is also not far from Mr Guy’s, has also been damaged on at least six occasions.
Mr Guy said it appeared to be a case of targeted attacks “against only Liberal MPs”.
“It’s sad to see political violence this come to Australia - there’s no place for it,” he said.
“These attacks have the potential to seriously injure people, so the quicker the perpetrator is caught the better.”
Mr Wolahan said the attacks appeared to be targeted.
“Crime is rising in our community,” he said.
“This isn’t just property damage - it impacts local businesses who bear the cost and affects our sense of safety.
“We’ve referred all incidents to local police for investigation.”
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said they were looking into the most recent attack on Mr Guy’s office.
“The investigation into the cause of the damage remains ongoing,” she said.
