Police are searching for a man who allegedly recorded a naked child at a public shower block in Melbourne’s west.

Detectives are hunting a man who allegedly filmed a naked child at a public shower block in Williamstown earlier this year.

Investigators have been told the man held a phone under a shower cubicle divider and recorded a five-year-old girl at Williamstown Beach about 3pm on January 31.

The girl’s mother confronted the man, who is described as being of Indian Sub-Continental appearance, before he fled the scene on foot toward Victoria St.

The alleged offender is perceived to be about 30-years-old with a medium build, black hair and olive skin.

He was wearing a black hoodie, grey tracksuit pants and slides.

Police have released an image of the man with the hopes someone may be able to identify him.
