Police believe dead teen boy could have been targeted in Taylors Lakes hit-run

Police are probing whether a 16-year-old killed after being struck by a car alongside two mates in Melbourne’s northwest on Monday was deliberately hit while crossing a residential street.

Homicide squad detectives are probing whether a teenager who died after a hit-run in Melbourne’s west on Monday night was targeted.

Police believe three teenagers were deliberately hit by a car while crossing Chichester Drive in Taylors Lakes about 7pm.

The vehicle then fled the scene.

A 16-year-old boy died at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics to revive him, while a 16-year-old and 15-year-old were hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries.

Homicide Squad detectives, along with the Major Collision Investigation Unit, are working to establish the exact circumstances of the incident.
