A gang member wanted over an attempted murder in Queensland has been arrested in Melbourne’s CBD.

Detectives from the Gang Crime Squad arrested the man after raiding a Southbank apartment in City Rd about 7am Friday.

The 23-year-old, who was wanted over a non-fatal shooting of Comanchero bikie Kyle Leofa in Brisbane on September 12, was arrested without incident.

Mr Leofa was dumped at a Brisbane hospital after he was shot in the face in what Queensland police believe are escalating tensions between two rival crime groups.

The violence erupted in an Underwood shopping strip, a suburb south of Brisbane, in during the filming of a video.

Initial investigations reveal two vehicles approached where the filming was taking place, one of them containing Mr Leofa.

It’s alleged shots were fired, resulting in Mr Leofa sustaining injuries to his face and throat.

Mr Leofa was photographed in Melbourne weeks ago at a pre-fight night celebration with Comanchero national president Allan Meehan and wounded enforcer Tarek Zahed.

The photo of the trio and gang associate Mohamed “Moey” Alameddine was posted as a demonstration of power following a tumultuous year for the gang.

It was Zahed’s first public outing since he was ambushed and shot 10 times at a Sydney gym. His brother, Omar, was killed in the brazen attack.

The photos were posted to Instagram by Meehan, who captioned it “welcome back Tarek ‘hard2kill’ Zahed”.

Another photo from the fight night at Wantirna venue The Grand reception centre, east of Melbourne, captured Mr Leofa with his arm around a different man and two of the highest-ranking Comancheros also in frame.

Victoria Police Echo and VIPER task force detectives assisted with Friday morning’s arrest of Mr Leofa’s alleged assailant.

VIPER task force Det Inspector Danny Travaglini said the raid was carried out without incident.

“This is another example of the Victoria Police working collaboratively with interstate law enforcement agencies to hold gang members involved in violent offending to account,” he said.

“The support of the Gang Crime Squad and the Viper Taskforce has been crucial in making this timely arrest.”

The man faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday where an application to extradite the man was made.
