Collingwood footballer Jordan De Goey has been hit with a third set of driving charges as the star player is set to admit he scrapped his P-plates and wore a helmet not up to the Australian standard while riding his motorbike through Melbourne’s inner-city last year.

Sporting a T-shirt and beanie, the Magpies midfielder beamed into court on Thursday afternoon where his lawyer revealed his matters had resolved and he would be pleading guilty to multiple traffic offences including driving while suspended and using a mobile phone in July 2019.

De Goey was also caught allegedly riding down Alexandra Ave at South Yarra in February last year sans motorcycle helmet.

The new charges are understood to include speeding, driving without P-plates and driving a banned vehicle.

Defence lawyer Zoya Tvarkovski said she would need only 20 minutes to plead her client’s case and asked for his new charges to also be heard during the consolidated guilty plea on September 3.

Ms Tvarkovski said the new charges, which were set to come before the Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court, related to “similar offending” by De Goey.

Documents released by the court reveal De Goey was allegedly busted driving his car down Punt Rd in South Yarra while suspended and using his mobile phone while behind the wheel on July 6, 2019.

Less than a year later on February 13, the 25-year-old was allegedly spotted driving his motorbike in the same suburb without a helmet or displaying his probationary plates.

De Goey did not speak during the brief hearing, only to respond “yes I can” when the magistrate asked if he could see and hear the court.

It comes as De Goey is due to face a contested hearing for indecent assault allegations next month.

The single charge relates to an alleged incident in Melbourne’s leafy suburb of Kew in 2015.
