Imprisoned pedophile Gerald Ridsdale was taken to hospital on Friday night, after a health scare at Port Phillip Prison.
The 89-year-old child predator and former priest was moved to St Vincent’s Hospital via non-urgent patient transport on Friday evening.
A St Vincent’s Hospital spokeswoman said a patient from Port Phillip Prison was in a stable condition.
A source told the Herald Sun Ridsdale — who is serving an almost 40-year sentence for abusing more than 70 victims — had a high temperature.
His lawyer told a court in June last year the bed-bound Ridsdale’s health had deteriorated and he may need to enter palliative care.
The comments were made during a pre-sentence hearing after the notorious pedophile pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting his 72nd known victim — a 13-year-old boy — in Horsham in the 1980s.
Ridsdale has been in prison since 1994, and is serving a 39-year jail term for more than 190 charges.
His sentence has been extended multiple times as new victims came forward, with more than 70 known victims, aged between seven and 16, now identified.
