Footage of two men and two vehicles have emerged as potential breakthroughs in the underworld murder of Mickleham man Korey Kesici.

Homicide squad detectives are looking for the men over the cold-blooded shooting of Mr Kesici outside his family’s Bangalore Way home on May 5.

Mr Kesici, 22, was a former Mongols bikie gang prospect and known to figures from the Notorious Crime Family gang, run by jailed gangland strongman George Marrogi.

Police have examined thousands of hours of CCTV as part of their inquiry.

One section of footage shows a stolen red Holden Commodore ute with false number plates being refuelled at a petrol station on Main St and Edgars Rd, Thomastown, at 11pm on May 4.

The ute drives off without payment and 30 minutes later is seen on CCTV travelling in convoy with a white BMW on Donnybrook Rd towards Mickleham.

Just after midnight, Mr Kesici walked from his home to talk to a male in a white BMW parked outside and was shot several times, later dying at the scene. The BMW took off and was soon found in flames on nearby St Georges Boulevard.

The red Holden was captured on film alight the next day at 7.30pm in Beveridge.

Investigators later retrieved CCTV of a man on foot near Mr Kesici’s house just before the killing. They believe that man is involved. Detectives would also like to talk to the man shown earlier filling the car with fuel at Thomastown.

The BMW had been stolen from Tyabb on March 27 and the Holden from Maribyrnong on April 8.

The head of the homicide squad, detective Acting Superintendent Dean Thomas, said it was clear Mr Kesici’s murder was a planned hit.

“We know Korey had connections to a number of organised crime groups, including outlaw motorcycle gangs and other organised crime groups,” he said.

“This has added complexity to the investigation and our lines of inquiry, including determining a motive.

“What is clear to us is that this was a deliberate, targeted organised-crime hit. We are hopeful that today’s appeal provides us with further avenues of inquiry,” he said.

Police have urged the public to scrutinise CCTV of the moments before Mr Kesici was executed on the street, in an effort to identify his killers.

“Korey’s murder was also captured on CCTV however it is far too violent and graphic for us to release to the public,” Supt Thomas said.

“His heartbroken family deserve answers as to why this happened, and we will do everything we can to help provide those answers for them.”
