Neo-Nazi Thomas Sewell has been arrested in a counter-terrorism raid in Melbourne.

Sewell, the head of the neo-Nazi group the National Socialist Network, was arrested by armed officers from the Victoria Police counter terrorism command at his Rowville home early this morning.

Another man, aged 22, was also arrested at the Eildon Parade address.

Search warrants were conducted on the home.

The pair are being questioned about an alleged armed robbery in Taggerty on Saturday May 8.

Charges have not been laid and the investigation remains ongoing.

Earlier this year Sewell allegedly assaulted a Channel Nine security guard in a sickening attack, which was filmed and uploaded to social media.

He was charged with affray, recklessly cause injury and unlawful assault.

The footage captured Sewell punching the security guard multiple times in the head as well as pinning him to the ground.

Sewell was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on July 27.

Victoria Police’s Counter terrorism command is responsible for investigating incidents of terrorism and communal violence.

They define communal violence as violence or threats of violence between groups that define themselves by their differences.

Specifically, this relates to differences based on ideology, politics and religion.
