The mother of a Latrobe Valley teen allegedly stabbed to death says she is “trying to be brave” in an emotional tribute left online on the one year anniversary of her son’s death.
Nick Henry, 19, was killed in February last year after an alleged run-in with a group of men in Morwell on Buckley Street.
Three men — brothers Brayden Smart, 20, and Corey Smart, 23 and 19-year-old Abraham Abas — were arrested and charged with the killing.
Nick’s grieving mother Karen shared an emotional tribute online on the one year anniversary of the much-loved teen’s death.
“Today is the hardest day of my life again Nicholas,” Karen Henry posted on the ‘Remembering Nick Henry’ tribute page.
“It breaks me so much that I am never to see you today, tomorrow, ever again.
“You were my rock, my soul, my baby boy. I wish I didn’t have to remind myself that you are never coming home to kiss me and tell me your safe.”
Ms Henry said she was always thinking about her slain son’s smile and laughter.
“It has been the hardest 12 months of my life,” she said.
“My heart misses you so much. I am trying to be brave but I wish you were here to make it all go away. Love you my son hope (you are) OK, resting easy and giving it hell up there.
“I know you will be though, send it in the clouds my son.”
Another relative, Taylor Henry, also shared her grief online.
“Sitting here in tears while I write this but I can’t believe this 12 months has gone so fast, so shitty not having you around bro,” Taylor Henry said in the post.
“You never deserved what happened Nick but now we all have our beautiful angel watching over us.
“I know you would be proud of your family. I miss you heaps Nick, you were one of a kind and you always looked out for me. Gone but never forgotten Nick.”
Nick Henry was stabbed to death in the early hours of February 23 about 12.30am.
He had allegedly suffered severe stab wounds after an alleged run-in with a group of men on Buckley St.
The 19-year-old from neighbouring Churchill was found near his van and died soon after in hospital.
Mr Henry is believed to have been living in his van and couch-surfing in the weeks before his death.
