Love Machine nightclub’s operators have been charged over allegations they breached their liquor licence and chief health officer orders.
Sterling Nightclubs Pty Ltd, which runs the Prahran venue, faces counts of being a licensee permitting supply of liquor other than in accordance with licence, supplying liquor other than in accordance with licence, refusing or failing to comply with CHO directions, failing to supply a document for inspection and failing to attend before an authorised person and answer questions.
Charges have been laid by officers from operation Tidewatch, which enforces CHO directions, a frontline tactical unit and the Prahran divisional investigation unit.
Sterling Pty Ltd had a Melbourne Magistrates’ Court appearance on Monday.
In a separate investigation, police are continuing to look into vodka served at the club.
A number of patrons wound up in hospital after drinking at the venue earlier this year.
Detectives seized dozens of bottles of vodka from Love Machine under warrant in April.
Love Machine, which is on Malvern Rd, was the scene of an infamous double-fatal drive-by shooting in 2019.
Security guard Aaron Osmani and patron Richard Arow died in the ambush.
There were reports last year that the club was fined $10,000 for breaching a directive of CHO Brett Sutton.
