The body of a missing woman has been found in parkland near her Hampton Park home.
Police on Friday confirmed missing woman Debbra McKenzie was found deceased at the River Gum Creek Reserve exactly one month since she had last been seen.
Missing persons squad detectives on Tuesday appealed for the public’s help to locate the 41-year-old as she had not been seen since December 17.
Detectives swarmed the Hampton Park reserve on Friday morning where the grim discovery was made.
“Police can confirm the body found in Hampton Park this morning, as part of a line search in River Gum Creek Reserve, is believed to be missing woman Debbra McKenzie,” a statement read.
“The body is yet to be formally identified however detectives, with assistance of the SES, targeted the area as part of the ongoing investigation to find Debbra.
“A postmortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
“The investigation remains ongoing.”
Detectives do not suspect she met with foul play but held serious concerns for her safety given the length of time she had been missing.
Ms McKenzie did not own a mobile phone and had not accessed her bank account for some time.
She also missed appointments to collect her medication and had no digital footprint.
Detectives said her associates, who reported her missing on December 31, were hesitant to share information about her possible movements.
Anyone with information into Ms McKenzie’s death is being urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
