A third man has been charged after an alleged bungled shooting in inner Melbourne.

It follows the shooting of a 76-year-old man inside his Canterbury Rd home in Middle Park last month and the arrest of a Tarneit and Werribee man earlier this month.

Victoria Police confirmed officers conducted a Firearm Prohibition Search at a property in Ascot Vale on Thursday afternoon, where they located and seized a firearm.

A 26-year-old Truganina man was also found at the property and arrested.

He was charged with allegedly intentionally causing serious injury, being a prohibited person possessing a firearm, possessing drug of dependence and other related offences and will appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday night.

The elderly gentleman was shot in the leg when he answered a knock on his front door just before 8pm on August 17.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
