Demons star Steven May has been spared conviction after he was caught driving while suspended.

The 2021 premiership defender fronted Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday where he was fined $500 without conviction after pleading guilty to driving while suspended.

May, 31, lost his licence after running out of demerit points but claimed it was an honest mistake.

He was involved in a drunken brawl with teammate Jake Melksham at a Prahran restaurant last year. May was not charged over the incident but received a one-match ban for drinking alcohol while under the concussion protocols.
