A man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly set another man on fire at a property in Victoria’s northwest.
Police allege a fight broke out at a Wallaby Rd home in Wheatsheaf about 10.25am on Tuesday before a 69-year-old man was set alight.
He was flown to The Alfred hospital with critical injuries where he later died.
A 63-year-old man was arrested and charged by Arson and Explosives Squad detectives with attempted murder but it’s expected the charge will be upgraded to murder.
The Wheatsheaf man will face Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
The exact circumstances surrounding the alleged assault are still unclear.
