A man who allegedly followed a teenage girl onto a train before exposing himself and sexually assaulting her is being hunted by police.
It is understood a man of Indian Sub-Continental appearance with a shaved head boarded the same train as a 16-year-old girl in Pakenham and sat across from her on January 29 about 4.20pm.
Police alleged he then continued to move closer to the teen, performing a “lewd act” and exposing himself before sexually assaulting her.
She allegedly tried to escape the man by moving carriages and asking him to stop his advances, then disembarked the train.
Officers from the Transit Crime Investigation Unit are searching for the man who is believed to be about 30 years old.
Investigators have released images of the man they believe sexually assaulted the teen.
He was last seen with a maroon knee brace on his right knee and carrying two large duffle bags while wearing a white striped t-shirt and a black hooded jumper with dark shorts.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or with information about the alleged attack should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
