A man has handed himself into police after an alleged hit-run with a cyclist in Fitzroy North.
The Coburg man, 30, was being interviewed by police on Saturday after police made an appeal for information.
It is understood a 30-year-old cyclist was riding on Brunswick St, near the Fitzroy Bowls Club, when he was allegedly hit about 3.15am on April 3.
The driver allegedly hit the cyclist with a car before parking the black Volkswagen hatchback a short distance away and returning to look at the victim.
The man is alleged to have fled on foot.
The rider was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
CCTV footage captured a man wearing a dark coloured jumper and jeans jogging away from the scene.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the man was the only occupant of the car.
The injured cyclist has declined to be interviewed.
Police say the alleged driver is expected to be charged on summons.
