Luxury handbags and shoes were stolen from a Brighton home in an alarming burglary last month.

A man forced entry into a property on Seymour Grove around 8.30pm on May 29, before stealing items from luxury brands including Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Prada and Gucci.

He also stole a suitcase from the premises to help remove the stolen items.

Investigators have released CCTV of a man they believe will be able to assist with inquiries.

Police are looking for a man believed to be caucasian in appearance, of medium build, and balding with dark hair.

It comes after residents of the affluent suburb said they were “living in fear” after a spate of home invasions, setting up multiple neighbourhood watch WhatsApp groups after recent incidents in May.

Influencer Bec Judd was among the locals who spoke up, hitting a nerve when she revealed on social media her concerns about “rapes, bashings and home invasions at the hands of gangs in Bayside”.

But new crime statistics released last week revealed crime had dropped in Bayside by more than 12 per cent to the year ending March 31.

In Brighton specifically, the number of crimes year-to-year dropped by 829.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or with information that could assist investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
