Arsonists have tried to torch a smoke shop store in Geelong in the latest attack with potential links to the state’s tobacco war.
Detectives from the Lunar task force are investigating after the fire was lit at a shop in High St, Belmont, at 1.30am.
The shop was left with minor damage.
“Investigators are treating the fire as a targeted attack and will look at any possible links to other recent fires,” a Victoria Police statement said.
Lunar was established last year after a wave of fires linked to organised crime figures fighting for control of the illicit tobacco trade.
Investigators are keen to speak to witnesses or people with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage.
