Victoria Police bomb squad has been called to the Mill Park Soccer Club in Lalor, following the discovery of a “suspicious package”.

Police were called to the Partridge St, Lalor, club about 11am, and were still at the club about noon.

A police spokeswoman said the area was cordoned off, and officers were performing safety checks.

“There is no immediate risk to the community,” the spokeswoman said.

It’s understood the club is in the middle of a post-season break, and was not using the Partridge St Reserve when the package was found.

Emergency Services have been asked to bring sandbags to the site to assist the bomb squad.
