Father and son Rebels bikie gang members have been charged over a Bendigo bashing which left a man seriously injured.

Frank and Antonio Guarneri are accused of being involved in a three-man attack on a local last month.

Police have previously stated the victim, from North Bendigo, was working on his car when a motorcycle sped past and he motioned for the rider to slow down.

It is alleged two men in Rebels clothing turned up soon after in a Holden Commodore and began bashing him.

A third man arrived not long after that and is accused of joining in.

The victim wound up in hospital.

Police said at the time of the arrests that those detained were a Rebels OMCG president, a sergeant-at-arms and a patched member.

Both Guarneris proudly flaunt their association with the Rebels on social media.

In one post, Antonio shared a picture of a motorcycle adorned with Rebels regalia.

“I’m the king man, I run the underground guy, I decide who does what and where they do it at,” he said in another.

Frank appeared to have removed public posts from his social media accounts following the charges.

The pair were arrested after several police squads searched a Long Gully clubhouse and several homes during their probes into the bashing on May 15.

Police also arrested a third man from Epsom over the alleged assault, which police described as “utterly unacceptable”.

In 2019, the Rebels boosted their presence in the Bendigo area with a hostile takeover of the Satan’s Soldiers club.

They shifted into the Soldiers clubhouse in what observers believed was a push to boost their strength ahead of the Bandidos moving in.

Three men were arrested this month and charged with intentionally and recklessly causing injury, affray, assault in company and assault with a weapon.

They were bailed to appear in Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on September 28.
