Former Rebels bikie among six people charged after major gun and drug trafficking probe
Police have charged six people including a former Rebels bikie after rifles and drugs were seized in raids across Melbourne’s west and north.

A former Rebels bikie is among six people charged in a major gun and drug trafficking investigation by organised crime detectives from the Echo Taskforce.
A shotgun, two rifles, a modified revolver, an assault rifle-style gel-blaster, ammunition, four rifle scopes, two firearm magazines and a large quantity of unknown tablets were seized from a Diggers Rest property during a sweep of raids in Melbourne’s west and north.
Members of the critical incident response team were involved in the arrest of a former Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang member in Melton at 7am on Thursday as officers carried out five simultaneous warrants.
The 26-year-old, from Melton, has been charged with two counts of trafficking a large commercial quantity of GHB and methylamphetamine and possession of the proceeds of crime.
Investigators charged another Melton man, aged 51, with two counts of trafficking a large commercial quantity of GHB, drug possession and proceeds of crime offences and a 47-year-old woman from the same suburbs was charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of GHB and cultivating cannabis.
Investigators charged a Diggers Rest man, 30, with possessing a trafficable quantity of firearms, ammunition breaches and possessing an imitation firearm.
Also arrested during the inquiry were a 34-year-old Melton man, charged with possession of cocaine and the proceeds of crime and a 48-year-old man from the same suburb who faces cannabis cultivation charges.
Police say 49lt of GHB and more than 140g of methylamphetamine have been seized during the course of the operation.
Thursday’s raids also involved the VIPER Taskforce, the north west metro regional crime squad, Melton CIU and the dog squad.
