Dramatic footage has emerged of what appears to be a schoolgirl being hit in the face by a woman behaving erratically outside North Richmond’s controversial injecting room.

Dramatic footage has emerged of what appears to be a schoolgirl being hit in the face by a woman behaving erratically outside North Richmond’s controversial injecting room.

The incident, which was filmed on Friday morning, shows the victim walking past the Lennox St safe injecting facility before a woman who appeared to be substance-affected confronts her.

The woman then hits the victim in the face, while shocked passers-by rush to assist.

The erratic woman, who was wearing no shoes, then continued to walk along the footpath.

The young girl was then seen holding her face in distress.

Victoria Police said they told a woman to move on from the area and had no reports of an assault.

“Police responded to reports of a woman behaving erratically in the Richmond area on August 16,” a spokeswoman said.

“It’s believed the woman was standing on the road near Lennox Street just after 9am.

“Police located the woman, and she was moved on from the area.”

It comes after residents on Thursday night voiced their ongoing concerns about the location of the injecting room at a fiery community forum with police.

Local resident Chrissy said Friday morning’s incident highlighted the “dangerous” and “disgusting” behaviour next to the school.

She said furious locals were over the community consultations and surveys.

“It’s just another day in paradise, it happens all the time,” she said.

“This is the s — that happens around here all the time.

“Its bullshit, it’s dangerous and getting worse

“It’s just a matter of time before someone gets killed.”

A spate of shocking incidents near North Richmond’s injecting room have been reported since it opened in June 2018, including a man being found dead near the school in 2021 and other shocking reports of overdoses.
