Police have established a second crime scene after making a grim discovery in Buckley, near Geelong, on Saturday afternoon.

It is understood a woman’s body was found in a bin on Mt Pollock Rd about midday.

Police said the woman’s death was being treated as suspicious and a crime scene has been established.

Police blocked off Mount Pollock Rd, immediately south of the Princes Hwy.

The gravel road, which has farmland on both sides, was blocked about 12.30pm.

A second crime scene was established at a residential address in Point Cook on Saturday afternoon.

A police spokeswoman said the home on Mirka Way is believed to be connected to the body of the woman found in Buckley.

Police at the scene, located between the Princes Hwy and Buckley School Rd, were on Saturday focusing on an area along the fence line while Homicide Squad detectives made their way from Melbourne.

There are a small number of homesteads in the sparsely populated area.

Eric Lewis owns the land either side of where the body was found.

He made his way to the site after hearing something on the “bush telegraph” and said police would not tell him anything.

“I’m flabbergasted,” he said.

“What is happening here in Buckley, I just can’t believe it.”

Members of the VIPER Taskforce arrived at the scene at 1.45pm.

One local resident, who did not want to be named, said he and his wife walked through the area as recently as Friday.

He said his wife noticed an odour but put it down to a dead sheep, which he said was common in the area.

Another resident, who has lived on Mt Pollock Rd for three years and in the area for 25, said the the discovery was “disturbing” and would send shockwaves through the rural community.

The isolated stretch where the body was found is home to a handful of people and is along a gravel road.

“Obviously any time a body is found is disturbing”, he said.

“It’s hard to picture it happening here.

“We walk our dogs past the train tracks and that area all the time.

“This will certainly shock everyone here, it’s just not something you expect.”

Another nearby Winchlesea resident said news of the grim find was “truly shocking”.

“It’s unbelievable, really,” she said.

“I’m not sure of the circumstances, but you wouldn’t expect anything like that to happen out here.”
