Shocking footage has captured the assault of an L-plate rider by members of the Mongols bikie gang on the Monash Freeway.
Five Mongols members can be seen speeding inbound on the freeway near the Wellington Rd exit, before one rider targets an unidentified L-plater, attempting to punch and kick him as they ride past.
The rider was forced to dramatically swerve to avoid being assaulted and forced off his bike.
The incident occurred about 12.15pm on October 19
Investigators have been unable to identify the victim but are keen to speak to him.
Detective acting inspector of the Echo Taskforce Alan Rumble said targeting an innocent L-plate rider was “seriously reckless and cowardly behaviour”.
“This is completely unacceptable behaviour by an outlaw motorcycle gang – thinking they are above the law and putting innocent members of our community at risk,” he said.
“We have made it a priority to follow up every avenue of inquiry available to us and to hold those responsible to account. If you have dashcam footage of this incident or you witnessed it, please get in touch with police.
“We are not intimidated by outlaw motorcycle gangs, and we will not allow our community to be either.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at crimestoppersvic.com.au.
