Former North Melbourne coach Dani Laidley will be dragged back before the courts after police laid a new charge.

The Herald Sun can reveal that a Bayside police unit has charged the former North Melbourne coach with breaching a court order.

Victoria Police said the charge followed “an investigation into several incidents in Prahran in mid-2020 and January 2021”.

The 54-year-old has been bailed and will face the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on August 26.

In a statement, Victoria Police Acting Senior Sergeant Julie-Anne Newman said: “As the matter is before the court it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”

Laidley was last year charged with stalking an ex-girlfriend but was placed on a good behaviour bond for 18 months, meaning the charge will be struck out if she complies.

Laidley bombarded the woman with calls and texts as well as going to her workplace, between April 25 and May 2, 2020.

In one message Laidley allegedly threatened to run her over with a car.

Images of Laidley in police custody, including one in which the former premiership star was wearing a blonde wig and makeup, were leaked last year.

Laidley launched legal action against Victoria Police over the scandal, arguing in a writ that the police had breached its duty of care towards her.

She said as a result she has suffered injury, loss and damage.

An independent Victoria Police inquiry ordered the officers involved to pay thousands of dollars in compensation to Laidley.

Each of the officers were put on a 12-month good behaviour bond and will be made to undertake a respect course run by the Victoria Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission.
